Week 19: Company Fraud

In capitalism, the goal is for successful, innovative companies to rise and be profitable, and companies who fail to do those things will fall to the wayside. However, while no company is perfect, there have been a few in recent history that were very fraudulent in their rise to power and fame, and that same fraud eventually lead to their downfall. These companies, while in the beginning were successful and innovative, masked their later achievements to the public to hide their faults. In this week's Tuesday Fix, we will explore three of the more famous company failures in modern history.

1. WeWork - The $47 Billion Disaster: While It was supposed to be on of the most popular IPO's of 2019, the company did not make it to that stage, and started to fall apart. Learn how this company, that was supposed to be the AirBNB of the working world, rose and fell.


2. What happened to Wirecard?: One of the biggest payment processing companies in Europe, German payments group Wirecard was once seen as Europe’s most exciting fintech company. Now it’s at the center of one of the biggest financial scandals in the country’s history.


3. Enron - The Biggest Fraud in History: In this video we take a look at the Enron story. At over $60 billion being scammed away from the public, they were the biggest fraud in history. This video takes a deep dive in how the company started, and what came to light as the fraud was revealed.
