"I move forward, the only direction."
Everyday we have the choice to decide how we spend our time, from who we spend it with, what we focus on, and how we decide to distract ourselves. With the endless amount of entertainment, streaming, and social media, it is easy to not stay focused, its easy to give in and have less willpower, and its easy rely on external forces to make our decisions. In this week's Tuesday Fix, we will explore ways to avoid learned helplessness, improving our willpower, and how to stay focused.

1. How to Stay Focused: By removing and lessening the unnecessary stimulants around you, learning your flow states, and discovering what makes us the most productive, we can increase and harness our focusing abilities. Often boring things we must do daily but are not memorable will, usually, pay off for us in the long run.

2. Improve Willpower in 5 Mins: While the willpower of humans is great and can help us persevere, on a day to day basis, in normal to regular stressful environments, our willpower is not unlimited. Like any muscle or skill, to grow and improve it, it must be practiced, and we can build our willpower through practiced slow breathing.

3. What I Wish I Knew When I Was Younger: Learned helplessness can occur in our lives when we are faced with repeated difficulties, failures, or discouraging events. While it is okay to feel helpless in certain situations, it is important to not give in and always be learning and adapting to find ways out of each new situation.

Call to Action! Focus is a major part of discipline, discipline is what takes you far over time, and focus is what keeps you disciplined for that day. Take the time today to make a productivity playlist (mine is full of soundtracks), take some deep breaths to channel your willpower, and remind yourself of the difference you can make today and everyday.
