Chances are if you are reading this you are on the internet! Whether you are on your phone, tablet, or computer, or accessing this via ethernet, Wi-Fi or cell service, you are using the internet! But how good is your internet? How is this data getting you? In this week's Tuesday Fix, we will explore how you get your internet, who helps provide it, and who is getting internet and who isn't.

1. Why Your Internet Sucks: "On the latest episode of Patriot Act, Hasan discusses Internet inequality in the U.S. and the reasons why millions of Americans cannot get online in 2019. Even though the Internet is considered a basic human right by the UN, many poor and rural communities across the country are still left with little to no access to broadband networks. This lack of Internet access then further impacts the ability of these communities to obtain healthcare, education, and other important necessities."

2. The fight over the internet, under the sea: "The ocean is home to more than 700,000 miles of submarine cables that carry the internet worldwide. This crucial infrastructure is at the center of a development race between the big tech companies amidst geopolitical rivalries between the world’s most powerful nations."

3. Why 23 million Americans don't have fast internet: "High-speed internet service is lacking in much of rural America. The causes are complicated, but non-competitive cable markets, misguided government funding, and infrastructural obstacles have limited expansion up until now."

Call to Action! In my opinion, the internet is one of the most powerful tools one can have to in their life. Being able to use it to aid others in getting the same access and knowledge may just be as powerful as the knowledge that is on the internet itself.
