"Facing all that you fear will free you from yourself."
This weeks topic and how it is presented is a bit different and unusual compared to others. I stumbled upon a channel that did an analysis of one of my favorite TV shows, Avatar: Legend of Korra, and how the show attempts and mostly fails on showing various political ideologies. Even if you have not watched the show, I believe this series does a great job of explaining how western media misinterprets other ideologies to show us why neoliberalism is the best choice, when in reality it may not be.

Book 1: Communism: Is communism the destruction of wealth or the redistribution of it? The first book of the series has a villain that is supposed to portray communism, but how correct was their comparison?

Book 2: Colonization: When a country takes over another, or establishes a foothold there, ideas from the conquering country often spread throughout the new area, either by accident, force, or a mix of the two. When this happens, what is good and what is bad, and who can do good or bad, is often changed.

Book 3: Anarchy: "When you base your expectations only on what you see, you blind yourself to the possibilities of new reality." Is Anarchy pure chaos, or just those who want to keep power tell you anarchy is?

Book 4: Nationalism: Does the attempt to leave a capitalist and neoliberal system lead to fascism or does the result of a capitalist and neoliberal system cause rise to fascism? This final book presents fascism as negative, but what aspects does the media point to as negative, vs what is truly negative?

Call to Action! Those in power will often want to keep things the same and keep the status quo. As new ideas come along that may threaten or enhance the status quo, be wary and watchful of how those ideas are presented, and be sure to analyze it for yourself.
