Week 7: Productivity

"A failure in planning is a plan for failure."

One thing I aim for is to be more productive. With a world full of distractions and wants, it is easy to either not be productive, or feel you are not being productive enough. In learning to increase my productivity, these videos below have helped me plan better, optimize my surroundings, and set my self up for the success of being more productive. Creating a schedule and mindset helps to be productive when its time to be productive, and to rest when it's time to rest. This overall will lead to a more fulfilling and less stressed life.

1. Willpower: When faced with the temptation of eating one cookie, it is often easier to eat only one cookie if you only have one remaining, vs if you had eleven whole cookies left in the package. In this video, the concept of willpower vs. removing temptations is explored, and how removing temptations often frees up more usage of your willpower for other necessary activities.

2. Doing Hard Things: The brain is very powerful, and sometimes can work against us when we are attempting for form or break a habit. The key this video discusses is how we can trick our brain into changing the way we think about doing something hard. This is done by considering the hard thing an extension of something we already do, or something we already are.

3. The One Hour Morning Routine: How we wake up and start our day can often determines how the rest of our days goes, especially on how productive it will be. Starting the day off with productivity often leads to the entire day, and sometimes the entire week, as a productive one. This video discusses how you can make a small but impactful morning plan to keep you moving the rest of the day.
